The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has one of the best written policies that we have found.  It has not been updated in a few years, but this model covers most of the relevant issues very well.  It has been used by many agencies when addressing the concerns and challenges of an officer or employee transitioning on the job at an agency.
